New Maples

Last Sunday, Dale, Sybil, Gem and I made a run to McKenzie River Maples in Leaburg, about an hour or so from the ranch, east of Eugene along the oh so beautiful McKenzie River Highway, to pick out three new Japanese maples for the barrels we got to plant tulips in this fall.  I had already gone there once to pick up a new 'Skeeter's Broom' to replace the original that died several years ago during a hot spell (we were gone wine tasting with friends and it didn't get watered enough)

Two new maples in barrels, and one big one in the ground (from a Washington nursery auction several years ago)
Dale picked out this gorgeous one for the front of the gate
