Aston Up Close and Personal

Finally, some decent pix of Aston!  All boy, this little guy, but easy going and gentle, just like mom and dad.  A solid, chunky guy who will make someone a very nice, beefy herdsire or an awesome 4H steer.  DOB 30 March BW 68#.  Sire - Morgan Rivers Talisman (Tali).  Out of Morgan Rivers Xpensive (Sapphire), a JB Roar daughter out of JB Moonstruck, a Twin Fir Black powder daughter and Willalooka Power granddaughter.  The last picture is of Sapphire at 3 years of age.  Aston is her second calf, and just like her first calf, came quick and easy and nice and light.  Sapphire is an excellent mother and as you can see in the pictures, and pay attention here, for raising such a nice, big, beefy calf on the dryland grass pasture you see in the pictures, she has held her condition magnificently.  The entire herd of 19 cows and calves and 1 BIG bull (Roar) get 140# of our own hay (same stuff, just greener) in the evening.  We drive along and fling flakes of hay off two bales out onto the pasture for everyone to nosh on.  That is the great thing about Murray Greys - doesn't take much to keep them fat and happy.  Sapphire is bred to Morgan Rivers Zamora (Roar X LeeLu) for an early 2014 calf.  You might want to get dibs in on THAT one now!

Aston was weaned on 30 August at 450#
